OPENINGS, WELCOMINGS, GREETINGS
Rev. D: We stand before this company, on this beautiful day, to witness the joining of Marion-Jo Newman and Scott Michael Carta in marriage.
As these two people are joined, so are their families and friends united through them. Marion and Scott have chosen you, their family and loved ones, to be here on this day as witnesses to their marriage. It has been their decision to bind themselves by marriage, and their lives will be strengthened and enriched by the support you give.
CHARGE
Rev D.: Marion and Scott, you are aware of the reality of the vows you are about to speak to one another; of the responsibility that comes when a partnership is created. If there is any reason within your hearts that this ceremony should not continue at this time, I charge you to voice it now, for marriage is based in honesty and trust, and only with those things can you successfully create a partnership.
DECLARATION OF INTENT
Marion, will you have this man to be your partner, to live together in marriage? Will you love him, respect him, comfort and keep him in sickness and in health, for all the days to come?
M: I will.
Scott, will you have this woman to be your partner, to live together in marriage? Will you love her, respect her, comfort and keep her in sickness and in health, for all the days to come?
S: I will.
Do you, Marion and Scott, pledge to help each other in developing your hearts and minds, cultivating compassion, generosity, patience, and wisdom, as you age and undergo the various ups and downs of life, and to transform them into the path of love, compassion, and joy?
M&S : We Do
Do you pledge to support each other's journey, to continually shine light on each other's , spirit of individuality and virtue, even when it doesn't directly benefit yourself? Do you pledge to reinforce and complement each other's strengths?
M&S: We Do
Rev. D: Recognizing that the external conditions in life will not always be smooth and that internally, your own minds and emotions will sometimes get challenged by negativity; do you pledge to see all these circumstances as opportunities to grow, to open your hearts, to accept yourselves, and each other? Do you pledge to be real, in all situations?
M&S: We Do
Rev. D: When it comes time to part, do you pledge to reflect on your time together with thankfulness for the ways in which you have grown, with acceptance that all things are temporary? Will you take joy in the fact that you met and shared what you have? Do you pledge to cultivate gratitude for the boundless gifts you have received?
M&S: We Do

Declaration of Marriage
Rev. D: No one but you can declare yourselves married. You have begun it here today in speaking your vows before this company, and you will do it again and again in the days to come, standing by each other, sharing all the sweet and the bitter of life. Each tender act, each loving word will be the declaration of what was marked here today.
Begin it now then, with a kiss.
